How to connect to internet through GPRS?

Most of the today latest mobiles have wireless internet connection to allow the user to surf and download the application over the internet at anytime. For using the wireless internet in your mobile you need a WAP wireless application protocol and also a browser to browse the internet. Not all the mobiles have the WAP and GPRS service to access the internet and also some mobile operator do not offer these services.

1. When you want to connect to internet, make sure your phone is capable of using the GPRS data service. If your mobile do not support WAP over the circuit switched data connection then your mobile phone won’t be able to work as a wireless modem.

2. First subscribe to GPRS service

3. Configure the necessary GPRS setting on your mobile phone and save the setting on the mobile. Enter the details given by the operator in the mobile.

Setting required are:

  • GPRS number
  • User-ID
  • Password
  • APN access point name
  • DNS address
  • Other advanced settings like user authentication, data compression and quality of service.
